RSS feeds - the hidden gems of delicious

Fraser Speirs, on the delicious network:
The Delicious Network is my Secret Internet Ninja Move of 2008. I’m consciously trying to be more of a contributor to Delicious.
I can’t do nothing but agree - your delicious network feed will provide you with some excellent readings if you share common interests. This feature in itself is great, and it works even better when people learn to add brief notes to bookmarks; those will give you a hint of the interestingness (for you) of each link that is served to you through your feed reader.
And as if this wasn’t enough; the delicious team offers a unique feed for your inbox as well - no need to worry about visiting the delicious.com to get notified of new recommendations.
Ah, the joy of internets!
Command of the day: nl
December 18, 2008 @ 20:55
Every now and then I stumble upon some small command line tool that I haven’t used before. To be honest, that happens every day. I’m not really that command line guy, but I like to think so. Better to be honest with you straight away.
Today I found out about nl - a small utility that reads lines from either file or standard input and then applies some line numbering filtering operations. The result is then written to standard output.
Let’s assume we have a silly.txt that looks like this:
My cat is fatter than your cat
My internets is your internets
Santa is sleepy
To prepeand line numbers to each row, just do something like:
prompt: nl < silly.txt > silly_numbers.txt
Behold - silly_numbers.txt:
1 My cat is fatter than your cat
2 My internets is your internets
3 Santa is sleepy
I thin my bash-fu just increased a few levels.
